Ss400 Carbon structural steel

SS400 is a labeling method for Japanese steel materials, equivalent to Q235 steel in China. Structural steel in foreign standards is often classified according to tensile strength, such as SS400 (indicated in Japan), where 400 represents the minimum value of σ b at 400MPa. Ultra high strength steel refers to steel with σ b ≥ 1373 MPa.
P: Below 0.050
S: Below 0.050

SS400 and Q235
SS400 is basically equivalent to China's Q235 (equivalent to Q23). However, there are differences in specific indicators. Q235 has requirements for the content of elements such as C, Si, Mn, S, and P, while SS400 only requires S and P to be less than 0.050. The yield point of Q235 is greater than 235 MPa, while the yield point of SS400 is 245 MPa. SS400 (steel for general structure) refers to steel used in general structures with a tensile strength greater than 400MPa. Q235 means ordinary carbon structural steel with a yield point greater than 235 MPa. The standard number for SS400 is JIS G3101. The standard number for Q235 is GB/T700.
SS400 is a labeling method for Japanese steel, which is actually Q235 steel in China. It is a material of steel. Q represents the yield strength of this material, followed by 235, which refers to the yield value of this material, around 235. And it will decrease in yield value as the thickness of the material increases. Due to its moderate carbon content and good comprehensive performance, the strength, plasticity, and welding properties are well matched, making it widely used. It is often rolled into steel bars such as round steel, square steel, flat steel, angle steel, I-beam, channel steel, window frame steel, and medium thick steel plates. Widely used in construction and engineering structures. Used to make steel bars or construct factory frames, high-voltage transmission towers, bridges, vehicles, boilers, containers, ships, etc., and also widely used as mechanical parts with low performance requirements. C. D-grade steel can also be used as steel for certain professions.
