High speed steel

High speed steel (HSS) is a type of tool steel with high hardness, wear resistance, and heat resistance, also known as high-speed tool steel or sharp steel, commonly known as white steel. High speed steel is the F. of the United States W. Taylor and M White created it in 1898.
High speed steel has good processability and a good combination of strength and toughness, so it is mainly used to manufacture complex thin edged and impact resistant metal cutting tools, as well as high-temperature bearings and cold extrusion molds. In addition to high-speed steel produced by smelting methods, powder metallurgy high-speed steel has emerged since the 1960s. Its advantage is that it avoids the mechanical property degradation and heat treatment deformation caused by carbide segregation in smelting production.
