Overview of C-53 Mold Steel
1. After heat treatment, the hardness of DC53 is higher than that of SKD11, and after high-temperature (520-530 ℃) tempering, it can reach a high hardness of 62-63HRC, surpassing SKD11 in strength.
2. The toughness is twice that of SKD11. The toughness of DC53 is particularly outstanding in cold work die steel, therefore, those manufactured with DC53 rarely have cracks and fractures, greatly improving their service life.
3. The residual stress after wire cutting processing is reduced by high-temperature tempering. Therefore, cracks and deformations in large molds and molds that require precision after online cutting processing are suppressed.
4. Cutting performance exceeds SKD11. The cutting performance of DC53 is superior to SKD11. Therefore, using DC53 can increase mold life and reduce processing steps. Purpose: Precision punching and various plastic deformation tools for stamping molds/cold forming molds/cold drawing molds/forming rollers/punches/wire cutting processing.

DC53 mold steel usage:
1. Precision stamping dies, precision cutting dies for wire cutting processing, and stamping dies for various purposes.
2. Tools for plastic deformation of difficult to process materials, molds for cold forging, deep drawing, and wire rolling.
3. Other types include high-speed punching heads and stainless steel plate punching heads.
DC53 heat treatment:
DC53 is a new type of cold work die steel that improves SKD11, and its technical specifications are specified in Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) G4404. It overcomes the weakness of SKD11's insufficient high-temperature tempering hardness and toughness, and will fully replace SKD11 in the fields of general and precision molds.
DC53 nitriding treatment: After nitriding treatment, the surface of the workpiece obtains a dense hardened layer structure, which significantly improves the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the workpiece. The surface hardness after 525 ℃ gas nitriding treatment is about 1250HV, and the surface hardness after 570 ℃ soft nitriding treatment is about 950HV.
